The sporting careers of two aspiring athletes from North Wales have received a boost as they have stepped onto the Welsh Talent Development Academy – a Welsh Athletics programme designed to nurture potential world-beaters of the future.
And the successful scheme has been heralded by Britain’s top 400m man Tim Benjamin who is working towards selection to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Peterston-Super-Ely sprinter explained:
“We have a vast array of talent in this country and the Talent Development Academy will assist youngsters coming through. It is vital that athletes gain access to top coaching and sports science so I’m glad to see that the future of Welsh athletics is receiving the necessary support.”

They have started playing round robin fixtures in the North Wales Girls Football League.

Flint U14
Flint U14s played at home against Denbigh and dominated play right from kick off. In the first half Dominic Harrison scored 3 tries, Tom Rowlands scored 1 try and Damian Goss scored a conversion. In the second half Flint upped their game with Tom Burke scoring 2 tries, Tom Rowlands 2 tries, Rhys Roberts 1 try and Damian Goss kicked 4 conversions. Final Score Flint 55 Denbigh 0.

Trailing by 0-15 at half-time at Oswestry Vets, Wrexham Thirds came back strongly with two converted tries after the break, but they couldn't quite catch the home side who clinched the game with a late converted try. Flanker Mark Lloyd and winger Andrew Williams crossed for the visitors' tries, wing Jonathan Davies slotted two conversions and centre Peter Blakemore had an outstanding game in the threequarters.
Wrexham Fencing Club prides' itself on bringing on new and aspiring fencers and to this end they are proud to record that it has five junior and cadet fencers representing Great Britain at competitions around Europe. The five to be awarded their stripes are, Ben Roberts and Carolyn Benson foil, Adam Williams and Ben Hughes epee and Daniel Lumb at sabre.
