Record breaking day for Llangollen

Posted by Dan Owen on November 13, 2007 4:05 PM |

Llangollen continued with their good run of league form following up on last weeks 61-0 defeat of Caer Borders, with a 109-0 win over Rhyl 2nds on Saturday, in a match that saw both the club’s records for highest points scored in a match and most points scored by one player in a match surpassed.

Fullback Owen Thomas bagging a personal haul of 47 points (5 tries and 11 conversions). The Tower Field side were dominant in every department and produced a spectacular display of controlled rugby. Also on the score sheet was winger Nick Austin with a brace of tries and Tom Stevens, Richard Jasper, Gavin Roberts, Matt Rogers, Chris Davies, Mark Price, Dan Gibbons, Bob Coates and Ben Moss all crossed for tries. Head coach Ian Morris said afterwards ”I am very pleased with the performance today the guys stuck to the game plan all the way through and played very controlled clinical rugby. We have to take this forward now into next week’s Worthington 3rd round cup game at home against Ynysowen. I am confident we can continue this good run of form, what is also nice is that we have a few long term absentees coming back into the side and some of the less experienced players are making a push for regular starting places”.
