Caernarfon finish of the year in style

Posted by Dan Owen on December 17, 2007 3:30 PM |

Caernarfon RFC Junior section finished the year in fine style with the usual Christmas party for all the young players. In addition to the buffet prepared by parents, all Junior Section members received a Clwb Rygbi Caernarfon water bottle.

But Christmas is a time for giving as well as receiving, so Dan Lycett, North Wales SOS Kitaid Organiser was at the party to receive nearly 100 old rugby jerseys as well as boots and trainers donated by the club and it's Junior members.

SOS Kitaid collects unwanted rugby kit in the UK and distributes it amongst IRB development countries where money is tight. Thanks to the generosity of their sponsors: Cwmni Da, Gigatel, Keegans, Gwalia Garage and Gwyn Roberts, Caernarfon RFC have been able to buy new jerseys for all their teams form Under 7 through to Under 16. So at the Christmas party the old jerseys were handed over to Daniel Lycett who said "SOS Kitaid is very grateful to Clwb Rygbi Caernarfon for all their hard work and generosity in donating so much kit to a worthwhile cause to help fellow rugby players to play the game we all love.

It is important to say that Caernarfon are the first club in North Wales to donate kit in this fashion but I hope that they will be the first of many"

Training will restart after the Christmas break on Tuesday the 8th of January for years 7 to 11 and Friday the 11th for Years 1-6. New players are always welcome.
